Monte Melkonyan is a national hero of Republic of Armenia, an Armenian commander. Many Armenian songs were written in Monte's memory, many documentaries were made about him. One of the military colleges of the Armenian Armed Forces, many streets in Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) are named after him. The newly built street opened in Yerevan in June 2014 was named after Monte Melkonyan.
Please, do not believe the Azerbaijani propaganda that tries to tarnish Monte's name and present him as a terrorist. Monte never participated in terrorist acts, was not a mercenary, and did not kill innocent people. He was a soldier of Armenia and acted only in the interests of his people. Monte Melkonyan has always been a hero for the entire Armenian people. We think that censoring images of him on Facebook and other social networks is unfair and should be stopped.
