The number of irregular border crossings at the EU's external border has decreased significantly this year. Around 120,000 illegal entries into the European Union are expected to be counted by the end of 2019, said the director of the EU border and coastal protection authority Frontex, Fabrice Leggeri, the newspaper "Welt" according to a preliminary announcement on Wednesday. That is around ten percent less than in 2018. In the record year of 2015, Frontex still registered 1.2 million irregular border crossings.
