We all know that shoes are much more than an item of clothing. Flats, heels, boots, ballets, sandals, clogs, platforms, wedges, strappy, buckled, lace-ups, peep-toes, women love shoes, desire and lust after them. If in the most cases women tend to accessorize their look with a pair of shoes, there are shoes for which things work backwards. This is the case for the so-called statement shoes, shoes that have personality, that are loud, bright, glamorous, unique… that stand out.

The shoes that we present in this article definitely fit into this category: Anastasia Radevich’s shoes, unconventional pieces of footwear that combine symbolism with the uncompromising power of natural shapes and textures.

A Montreal based shoe designer, Anastasia Radevich was born in Minsk, Bielorussia. Her family were, as it happens, shoe designers. “ I spent my childhood helping my mom and dad,” she said. “I loved it! Naturally, I kept pursuing it.”

Having a distinction diploma from London College of Fashion in footwear design under her belt, she has spent a few years deepening into essence of technical design and art of the shoemaking at such creativity hubs as Alexander McQueen, Nicholas Kirkwood and Bolongaro Trevor (Creators of All Saints). Her first collection of hand-finished shoes was launched in 2009 and launched her into the competitive footwear market.

For Anastasia, shoes are like a canvas for profound expression, where she combines art, craft and technology to relay a message, a story or a statement. She is morphing her inner world, inspiration and energy into them, blurring the lines between art and fashion.

Anastasia Radevich’s fabulously funky footwear are original and make a powerful statement. Rebellious, absurdly enchanting and utterly fascinating, they’re not for the faint of heart. They demand a powerful woman, one who’s not afraid to be out and be seen, to face the world with a brave smile and a dignified posture.
