The 31-year-old forward provided the flourish on the official opening of his new flagship hotel, 'Pestana CR7 Lisboa' — his next step towards life after football.

It is the second of four hotels in a £54million investment and, joined by his mother, son and super-agent Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo was clearly delighted on a brief outing in his home country's capital.

He has not played for Portugal since that July night in Paris when the team that struggled through an easy group somehow pulled together to win the trophy.
