Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed on Tuesday that French legend David Trewzeguet has retired from professional football.

The 37-year-old last played for Pune City in the Indian Super League having spent a few years in Argentina with River Plate and Newell’s Old Boys.

Trezeguet most famously played for Juventus and France having come to the fore at Monaco in the mid-1990s.

The French striker will be remembered for scoring a hatful of goals for Juventus and for claiming the winner for Les Bleus with a Golden Goal against Italy in the Euro 2000 final.

Gazzetta suggest there may be a management role for Trezeguet in the future at Juventus.

Trezeguet is currently on holiday in Argentina, where he has come to this decision, after appearing in the Indian top flight.

He scored 171 goals in 318 games or Juventus. And, 34 goals in 71 appearances for France.

Discussions over an administrative role at Juventus are expected to come in the next few weeks.

Trezeguet is a cult hero for The Old Lady having played in Serie B for the 2006/2007 season.
