The Center for Truth and Justice (CFTJ) organized its second annual international conference on "Human Rights and Accountability - A Path Forward For Nagorno-Karabakh" at the American University of Armenia, May 3-5.

Among the active participants of the conference were a number of international organizations, including the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention, the International Criminal Court.
During the three working days of the conference, in addition to presentations, there were conversations, questions and answers, which showed that all the speakers were concerned about one question: the future of Nagorno Karabakh /Artsakh/, the concern was that 120, 000 people were at risk of ethnic cleansing as a result of Azerbaijan's actions. The materials and speeches discussed during the three days of the conference were about
1. international criminal accountability mechanisms,
2. war crimes against Armenians ready for prosecution,
3. recovery of damages /property rights, Corporate Accountability, violence, violation of rights/,
4. presentation by the Lemkin Institute on Genocide Prevention,
5. identifying and preventing atrocity crimes and the responsibility to protect,
6. presentation of forensic evidence, mercenaries and extrajudicial killings,
7. cultural heritage at stake,
8. seeking accountability in national courts,
9. transnational justice issues in Nagorno-Karabakh,
10. awards and recognition.
On the last day, today, after the award ceremony, we decided to have a talk with famous human rights defenders from Argentina - two wonderful ladies with big hearts: Luciana Minasyan and Irene Victoria Massimino.
Our reader is already familiar with Luciana Minassian from the conference of Future Armenian, her activity has two important components: professional and strictly human intellectual-emotional.
These two features together shape her feminine, Armenian image. Luciana Minassian is often in Armenia, but she is not an ordinary philanthropist and Argentinian human rights defender. She always comes to Armenia with plans and programs to realize. This time she is concerned about the problems of war prisoners and their relatives. She modestly keeps silent about her future plans and activity. But it can be guessed from the conversation that she has a big plan to be fulfilled in Armenia at the moment. Luciana is very concerned about the protection of the rights of our compatriots in captivity and their suffering relatives. She wants to somehow be useful to these people. She says it is her obligation, she can’t do otherwise.
- I’m assistant professor to International Law, Emiliano Buis chair, University of Buenos Aires, Law School. Assistant professor to Legal Aspects of Armenian Genocide Course, and Assistant professor to the chair of Holocaust, Genocides and anti-discrimination, same University. Former co-worked with Argentinean friends of Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Raoul Wallenberg Foundation. Lately working on legal aspects of Artsakh 2020´s war, both at local courts in Argentina and also with colleagues of Armenian diaspora lawyers associations. Our task is bringing awareness to Pows and mostly in pushing as "civil parties" the claims submitted at UN, Council of Europe, letters to the Vatican, among others. Member of the National Congress of Western Armenians, and lately member of the World Association of Armenian Lawyers. Legal advisor at the Lemkin Institute.
It should be noted here that the cooperation between Luciana Minassian and Irene Victoria Massimino in the legal justice framework started as an indomitable struggle for justice and truth of two powerful women on their own initiative, and not within the framework of the Lemkin Institute. However, being legal advisors of the Lemkin Institute, they continue to cooperate carrying out great work in the development of genocide prevention mechanisms. The Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention, Irene Victoria Massimino, who is known in the world as "AMBASSADOR OF TRUTH", isn’t visiting Armenia for the first time. She, unspeakably concerned about the fate of humanity, along with her bottomless human love and feminine tenderness, is able to approach professional issues with all rigor and relentlessly fights against ethnic cleansing all over the world.

Irene Victoria Massimino is a lawyer from Argentina working as a Rapporteur of the High Criminal Court of Buenos Aires Province (Tribunal of Cassation) ; she holds a Master of Laws from Indiana University and Purdue University at Indianapolis School of Law, USA and a Master of Arts in Human Rights from the School of Advanced Study of the University of London, UK. She is currently a Head Professor in the Department of International Education at the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, Argentina and Stockton University (New Jersey, US), Genocide and the Law for the Genocide Prevention Certificate of the Masters of Arts and Genocide Studies. Her main work as a scholar and human rights activists relates to issues of responsibility regarding genocide and other international crimes, especially related to the different processes of Memory, Truth and Justice in Latin America. Moreover, she is the Co-Director of the "Irak Project on Genocide Prevention and Accountability". Professor Massimino is also a member of the Asociación Americana de Juristas (AAJ-American Association of Jurists) ; a member of the Global Alliance for Justice Education; a fellow and former member of the Board of Directors of the Argentine NGO AsociaciónPensamiento Penal, and a member and former Co-Secretary-Treasurer of the International Association of Genocide Scholars for the term 2015-2017.
