THE ARMENIAN MASTER OF DRAWING

(reflections on Levon Lachikyan's art and exhibition)

Studying the presented graphic art pencil drawings, you are unwittingly trying to find out whether artists are born or they become artists by percieving the world and their own self through beauty. Lachikyan is one of the lucky ones whose inclinations towards art were formed at an early age. Living in a family of artists, it is impossible not to have one's own aesthetic taste and orientation. The drawings presented by Lachikyan provide a lot of information about the talented artist with a wide range of world perception. It is impossible to look at his works without delving into every part of each of the drawings.

Every line, drawn with care and mathematical precision, creates a unique pictorial perfection in a certain context, from which not only the artist - the MASTER of drawing- who has a wonderful mastery of the art of image creation, ensures the most accurate perception of the real world, leaving the interpretation to the viewer. Lachikyan's art is related not only to the gifted genes and the perfect perception of an aesthete, but also to his human nature. Being born under the constellation of Virgo, his aesthetic views are shaped by the principle of maximalism: the artist wants to communicate the beauty he has created to society and fans of his art.

Lachikyan's insightful observation and his own interpretation of the national church architecture, which in 2021 one of the journalists called "drawing church-painting" is a vivid manifestation of patriotism. He is rightly convinced that his birthplace Gyumri, which has given birth and raised many Armenian talents and artists, with its culture and color, love for art and unique ability to develop the arts, deserves to be under the patronage of UNESCO.

The beauty conveyed by Lachikyan's drawing art with its unique thematic orientation, optimism, and aesthetic elegance has a powerful message to the art-loving society, especially today, when elements of disappointment are sometimes noticeable in the nation. Lachikyan's art possesses a powerful solar energy and an ability to inspire. The nation that gives birth to such artists still has a certain mission to enrich the treasury of world art.
