James Rodriguez is facing two months out after breaking his foot in Real Madrid's victory against Sevilla. The Colombian broke his fifth metatarsal in the 2-1 win, which opened up a four-point gap at the top of La Liga. Rodriguez opened the scoring with a diving header after just 12 minutes, but later left the pitch in some pain following the broken bone. A Real statement from earlier today read: "After the tests carried out on James Rodriguez by the Real Madrid medical services at the Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital, he has been diagnosed with a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. "The player will undergo surgery in the coming hours." Segio Ramos also left the field for Carlo Ancelotti's side with a hamstring problem, but it is unclear how long he will be out of action. Jesse Rodriguez doubled Madrid's lead, before former Liverpool player Iago Aspas scored a late consolation for Sevilla. James will be missing for the Madrid derby with Atletico this Saturday, and their upcoming Champions League tie with Schalke. |
